On The Blaze, Again
February 7th, 2013

First, a reminder: The Kindle version of What to Expect is here.

Second, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’m fascinated by what Glenn Beck is doing with The Blaze as an internet TV network and it’s incomprehensible why media reporters (and business reporters) aren’t all over this story. Beck took a cable TV following, ported it out of an established network, and ushered into his own new network, which is not just an internet TV channel, but a pay internet TV channel. How is this not the most interesting, and potentially disruptive, media experiment since the advent of Fox News Channel? And yet when you look around the mainstream press . . . crickets.

As I said, incomprehensible.

I went on The Blaze’s Real News last night and came away even more impressed with the operation. What they’re doing isn’t an alt-version of Fox. It’s actually more like what PBS might be in an alt-universe where it had created a hit newscast for younger, conservative viewers. It’s long-form broadcast. It’s high-energy, but not shout-y. And it’s really, really smart.

I had a great time with The Blaze gang and then went over to my other favorite cable show, Greg Gutfeld’s Red Eye. Doing those shows back-to-back is basically the most fun you can have on TV.

Why isn’t the mainstream press all over this? Simple: They know that one of the media’s greatest powers is the power to ignore. So they feed us stories about Mantai Teo (or however his name is spelled), or about Beyonce lip-syncing the national anthem. Meanwhile, they ignore real news, especially anything that might hurt the left or help the right.

Well-said. The MSM is like a nest of hornets. They will ignore you right up until they consider you a threat. Then they attack.

In most cases it’s better to be ignored. They have nothing you need now, anyway.

I will watch this later, but for now, I can’t believe you told Greg Guttfeld that I’m one of the hippies who insists on putting the loose produce in the reusable bags. : ) I WASH THEM! EVERY WEEK! Harrumph. CML and I had it on during her breakfast this morning and her assessment was: “There is too much talking, and I can’t see Daddy.”

You need to loosen up! Your vibe is a tad Raymond Arroyo-ish.

let me guess … the solution to this “problem” is probably MORE immigration, right? the U.S. pop went up from 200 Mil to 310 Mil since 1970 & projected to be at 460 Mil by 2050. Some dearth.

all you’re (Business Lobby) after is money. Well, there are 2 ways to make money in business -1.) invent something new & sell to existing people (i.e. Steve Jobs, Bill Gates) — 2.) make “new” people & sell them the same old crap (i.e. Business Lobby)

Invent something or shutup (Business Lobby) ! (We sent a man to the moon in the 1960s with only American ingenuity & a pop. of 150 Mil)

if there’s anything the U.S. doesn’t need it is more people, especially from foreign countries. let American families make there own decisions. *of course if you want to send me $1million for the 2 wonderful, brilliant, (STEM) college grads I produced, feel free to send me a check, Jonathan.

I hope your 15 min’s of fame is over.

Johnathon, have not read your book but one comment about immigration as a help to dwindling population/so-called fertility rate…I’ve read about studies that show once immigrants settle here, the next generation assimilates our culture and their birthrate drops, too. Did you find studies on that?

Great topic to bring to our attention as there are also many school closings now in CA because there just aren’t enuf students to go around.
