If you hadn’t already formed an appraisal of Emily Gould, the story in the lede of this piece should probably push you along.

Who’d have thought I’d come down on Roiphe’s side? Wow.

Yeah, this is screwing w/ me. Gould is an airhead, but Roiphe wasn’t exactly making her bones while other celebutante writers “overshared” about their exes. What does Jezebel say?

I made it through 20 paragraphs of Gould’s piece before neural destruction reached critical mass. Of course, those 20 had been preceded by 10 of Roiphe. It’s comforting to know that after the 1 percent is beheaded and burned at the stake, these two will be there…like ring around the drain.

    Galley Friend J.E.,

Your comment on this post should be nominated for some sort of award (top ten greatest blog comments of 2011) and would probably win. Sadly, I’m home right now and I can’t read that goofy Gawker article to confirm your analysis because our K9 web filter service blocks Gawker (and the answer is yes, in case you are wondering — my wife controls the K9 filter and because this a family blog I won’t explain why I’m banned along with the kids). But really, I should thank the Lord every day for this web filtering software based on your top ten comment as it helps me avoid neural destruction (along with all the naughty bits).

What Herzog said. (Not about the naughty bits but about J.E.’s well-deserved award.)
