I’m sitting in a Starbucks next to George Mason University and the two middle-aged women next to me are discussing the Connecticut shooting rampage. One of them just said she thinks President Obama is a “coward” because immediately after the shooting he should have “outlawed all assault weapons and those long clip things” then “let the Supreme Court just try and overturn him” and if they did “just declare martial law.”

Then they wrapped up their coffee because they said they had to get back to class. Unclear if they were students or teachers.

College students/teachers, not surprising. From George Mason, however, that’s mildly surprising, though. Walter Williams and Veronica deRugy still have their work cut out for them.

They probably thought the president can declare Marshall law.

No doubt these women wanted George Bush to exercise dictatorial powers after 9-11, too. No?

Last night I was in a Home Depot in Montgomery County Maryland and struck up a conversation with someone in the hardware aisle.

When I asked him what he was up to he looked around to make sure no one was listening and said in a somewhat apologetic voice that he was refinishing his gun cabinet

Holy crap… being from Arizona I’m still getting up to speed on the crap that goes on here in blue state America.

So to make him feel better I asked him in a somewhat loud voice what sort of rifles he had and he perked up sensing that I wasn’t going to think him a freak and we talked happily for a good 10 minutes.

I did keep my eye out though because I was just itching for someone to come up and say something because I was going to give it to them.

    Verbally of course

That’s how you deal with bullies that come across your front
