Bill McGurn reviews What to Expect for the Wall Street Journal and, among other things, he took the book exactly as it was intended. Which is great. But what really made me smile is that he got what I was trying to say regarding modesty:
Among the many virtues of this slim, sprightly volume is that the author offers no easy solutions. He is under no illusions that women would—or should—return to a June Cleaver world. He is even more suspicious about efforts to bribe them to do so. Singapore is his Exhibit A. . . .
[A]s Mr. Last reminds us, we do well to be modest about our predictions. Because the one thing the math tells us is this: We’ve never been here before.
It’s tremendously gratifying to be read so carefully and grokked so completely.
