A Tale of Two Wilsons
June 21st, 2012

It’s theoretically possible that George Will isn’t the first person to do an essay linking Brian and James Q. Wilson. But I’d be surprised.

The biggest mistake Californians ever made was telling the rest of the world (especially those living on our east coast) how great it was to live in California. California hit the East Coast to West Coast migration tipping point about 30 years ago – those who came before wanted to live the CA life; those who came after wanted to replicate their eastern life style in the sun.

My cousins and I grew up with, went to school with, became friends with and one of my cousins even sang in high school assemblies with the Wilsons, and it’s hard to listen to a Beach Boy song without shedding a tear for the California of our youth.

    Chuck Currie:
Ditto. It was a golden land. Now it’s an object lesson in what happens when you try to take the nearly perfect and turn it into Utopia.
