Family Values on ABC
August 5th, 2005

The other night I noticed that Cruel Intentions starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, and Reese Witherspoon was on cable. Of course all sorts of movies appear on cable television, though I happen to notice the station logo in the bottom right corner said ABC Family. Of course, Cruel Intentions is a family movie. Gellar plays step-sister to Phillipe, whom she also teases with the promise of anal sex should he do as she tells him to. And there’s nothing un-family about Gellar’s saliva-string kiss with Selma Blair, who plays the dumb innocent in this teen remake of Dangeorous Liaisons. ABC Family Values … for the post-family era.

Last night on CBS during the 8:00 PM show I saw an ad for K-Y Jelly. Now the ad emphasized that it was great for a back massage but it also emphasized it was a personal lubricant. Also the people in the ad weren’t acting like it was going to stop at the massageWasn’t there a family hour time at one point? The kids don’t know it yet but as of last night they are banned from broadcast TV except for sports and Hogans Heroes.
