As the kids say, W.T.F.

No really, go look. I’ll wait. Let me know how many paragraphs you make it through before you’re completely lost.

Two thoughts:

1) You thought that there were people with too much time on their hands? You have no idea.

2) Suzanne Collins was basically right: except that America is pretty much the Capital already.

Sounds pretty much like the rest of the internet to me.

I think you gave them short shrift. The phenomenon that there is a second-tier (“indie dev”) market big enough and, evidently, ruthless enough that some competitors are willing to deploy weaponized P.C — and/or sexual favors to buy nerd journolist air cover — sounds like the makings of a good piece, in the right hands (Forbes.com guy didn’t exactly boil it down). There’s a valid cultural hook, too, since these opportunists get slagged as “Social Justice Warriors,” a now irony-saturated putdown requiring no elaboration, but the same opportunists really do believe their own hype and may see no distinction between political & selfish motives. I don’t see the Hunger Games analogy; this segment of video games is not prestigious or even TMZ-worthy so I guess you are doing a self-deprecating joke there, in a nod to your child-gladiator YAF fandom, or alternatively feigned self-unawareness from somebody who sees wrestling/Batman parallels in practically everything
