Maybe it’s like the (lousy) movie of Primary Colors, in which the Billy Bob Thornton character (played by James Carville) keeps calling the young British guy, who’s I gather meant to be like a black Stephanopoulos, “Hotchkiss” derisively; and after the 3rd or 4th time of hearing this clunker you think to yourself, “I bet that sounded wittier in the read-through.”
