Good piece. I didn’t interpret her (as you portray) hesitance to “run against Obama” as smooth-operator squishiness. Lame duck’s political career is done now–Ramesh Ponnuru said as much in a Bloomberg op ed, like 7 months ago, and the GOPish numbnuts flogging their wares at the Hannity/Hewitt/Huckabee flea mart apparently think it is a Barack-based ticket in ’14, ’16, etc. Now clear the Dems encouraged the consultoids to “make Obama the issue” last year & many goodly fees were collected

fwiw, I’ve volunteered with rodney davis a lot and vouch for what you write. he is a smart and good man whom i admire.

Great story and very accurate, however you missed a crucial part of the story: Congressman Johnson’s former staffers are heavily involved in Ms. Harold’s campaign. The only paid staffer on her campaign is the former chief of staff for Congressman Johnson. This is what really made the county chairman upset. They have a former politician who didn’t get his choice for his replacement the first time around and now he is trying a different route..
