Ratzinger Rules!
April 13th, 2005

Galley Friend DBM has passed on this link to the official website of the Cardinal Ratzinger Fan Club. (The link actually takes you to the merchandise page, in which fans of the papal frontrunner can purchase beer steins, t-shirts, and hats expressing their support for His Eminence.)

Christopher Blosser who runs the Ratzinger fan club also has a blog “Against the Grain” which is exceptional and covers more than just the good Cardinal. http://www.ratzingerfanclub.com/blog/http://www.splendoroftruth.com/curtjester

I know this will sound bad, especially as a Catholic, but I don’t really know anything about Ratzinger, but in his pictures, I say this and Father please don;t take this the wrong way…..evil.

Fan Club? Jebus, It sounds like you people are starting your own little cult of personality. If I remember my catholic dogma correctly, showing “support” is waste of time since the conclave does not take into account popluar wishes, vox populi if you will. The conclave and the church are very unpopular by their very design. Suppose your boy doesn’t get picked? Will you condemn the conclave as “activist cardinals?” “Supporting” one Cardinal over another display very little christian faith, but is typical of the winger mentality. Your W’s must be wearing of your foreheads and you need a new hero to worship. I suppose, with a liberal man of peace, you could do worse. Personally, I like Cardinal Oscar Rodriguez Maradiaga of Honduras. He’s the guy that was called upon to dismantle the Negroponte built Honduran Secret Police.

Cranky Yankee, I love your name. . . but I have to disagree a bit, I believe that the fan club was established a while back — not just as rooters for Ratzinger to become the next Pope. Plus I think it’s just pretty comical to have a fan club for a Cardinal. . . the same way I think the “Nino-mania” Scalia fan club is funny.

I agree it’s pretty funny to have a fan club for, or to even be a fan of, a Cardinal. But it Scalia’s case is it funny sad or funny ha-ha. You have to be pretty twisted to be a Scalia fan.

I guess it’s sort of knee-jerk on my part to take those types of comments seriously on the winger blogs. My Bad, but I would post anon if I… you get the point.
