RomneyBot 4000-3
September 29th, 2011

Steve Benen notices the latest module pushed-live for the RomneyBot system.

Here’s Romney last week:

“I stand by my positions. I’m proud of them.”

And here’s Romney this week:

“In the private sector,” he said, “if you don’t change your view when the facts change, well you’ll get fired for being stubborn and stupid. Winston Churchill said, ‘When the facts change I change too, Madam. What do you do?’”

So the RomneyBot is going to address the flip-flopping charge. By flip-flopping.

That should work.

I agree with Romney’s reply. Do you want to wear a hair shirt for the rest of his campaign.

We have to stop “eating our own.”

I find Romney’s statement to be the mature and considered response of a reasonable and seasoned adult. What he is describing is the process of learning from one’s mistakes, which constitutes experience. Experience is the basis for sound judgement. I have no problem with Romney choosing to use his experience and change his views as a reasonable course of action in light of that experience.
The issue that I do have a problem with is the apparent and vapid use of terms like ‘Romneybot’. Name calling is a definitive sign of immaturity and a direct reflection of a genuine and profound lack of experience. the result is inevitable a display of poor judgement.

Actually, John Meynard Keynes is the man credited with saying that.

I’m betting the proverbial ranch that Romney will be the pinata at the next GOP debate. Michele Bachmann needs to bloody him, as does Gov. Perry & Herman Cain.’

[…] David and I disagree on whether all of these items are a bug or a feature of the programming of the Romneybot 4000-03. But as voters we must be prepared to live with them. One critique of Romney I do not buy is that […]

as pointed out, Churchill did not say it, John Maynard Keynes allegedly did. So I guess, when the facts change, change the facts.
