March 13th, 2012

Read down to the Woz at #5. I’ve actually noticed the same thing, but thought it was just me.

This is absolutely, positively, true. I’ve noticed the exact same thing.

Yeah, I hate when I ask for the Frobenius norm but it tells me about cutaneous horns

Nah, it’s because the system is getting smarter about what customers are interested in, such as prime rib rather than prime numbers. Generally, everything on the Internet gets dumber as it gets more popular.

“I used to ask, ‘What are the prime numbers greater than 87?’ and it would answer,” says Wozniak. “Now instead of getting prime numbers, I get listings for prime rib or prime real estate.”

I think Siri knows that deep down, the Woz acutally is more interested in some juicy prime rib.

Last night one of the kids inadvertently turned on Siri during while getting ready for bed. When I said “Please hand me your towel so I can hang it up,” Siri suddenly replied, “Okay. You want me to cancel the meeting?” We were all a little confused.
