If the AP is going to agree to identify him with the pseudonym John, why in the world would they point out that it is his middle name and therefore make it that much easier for someone to identify him? Is it somehow less of a journalistic affront if the fake name they use for him is almost his name? Seems idiotic. Unless of course John isn’t his middle name, and this is a clever ruse to make sure that his identify is preserved . . . .
