IIRC both Ben Franklin and Thomas Paine had to deal with mechanical patent infringement so that may explain the old-timey Constitution shout-out. Whether or not he’s still on the masthead David Gelernter of TWS Valhalla got a favorable software patent decision against Apple for the iOS interface, and didn’t run for Senate or buy the Clippers recently so I’m guessing IP law didn’t pan out in his case? I feel like I’m trapped in an episode of “The West Wing” just by yakking about this
